When I first got approached to tour around a group of journalists from all over the world for Sailor Jerry Rum I thought, duh, this is a no brainer. I get to show off our lovely island to people of like minds in the journalism community all the while taking them to my favorite haunts and divey locations while I slobber over local food and Sailor Jerry Rum!!!! It’s tits on toast baby! Jonny Isabello (who interview NOFX for us more than a few issues ago) was our other driver and we served up a medium sized Waimea, a Backdoor Shootout contest at Pipe, a dip at Makapu’u, a visit to Sailor Jerry’s grave, and of course some Hotel Street night life. Sailor Jerry Rum I will say really took care of us and not just by keeping our bellies full of rum but by also providing an experience that went beyond the fun and sun aspects of Hawaii but the history of Normal “Sailor Jerry” Collins and the history of Oahu as well. Yum, yum, rum. Hope you enjoyed this brief look at our week.
Special thanks go out to all of the Sailor Jerry Rum Crew and the radical journalists from all over the world who gave me a chance to show them a piece of my world. Mahalo Nui Loa.
