We got word that homie of The Manifold and general bad-ass (artist, skater, photographer, videographer, pow wower) Spencer Keeton Cunningham has a new exhibition up in Amsterdam at Battalion displaying from Nov 7-30.  Checkin’ in on his newest body of work made in the fall of 2014 in Alaska got us really going with a photo collab, some ink on paper, and of course some ginormo wall art (or murals).  Check out this video that combines the making of his art from Juneau to Oregon, spliced by skating, gallery shows, music vid collabs, the art world, and life in The Last Frontier.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT:

As the invading population moved westward in North America,  the “frontier” moved further north and became more expansive.  Once the continental US was “civilized,” the “frontier” (an area for exploration) moved to the last state worth exploring.  This is the state Spencer Keeton Cunningham is exploring right now and where he created these works while he was painting large scale murals.

If you don’t know about SKC here’s the basic 411 (my god, do people still use that term? whatevs).  He’s been based out of SF for the last 10 years.  Fact.  His stylistic long limbed characters and icons are immediately likeable, zany, and representative of time and place.  Fact, not opinion (haha).  I read that he donated skateboards to the skateboard-less souls of Cuba– check out his vimeo vid for that HERE.  Rad fact.  So g’on keep up with him SKC, like, now.  Or whatever, do what you want.
